Our expert instructors guide you through every step of the manoeuvre, including trailer uncoupling/recoupling where applicable. If you’re completing your HGV training with us, your 3A test is included—but we also offer standalone tests and vehicle hire for independent candidates.
We provide daily test availability, modern vehicles, and optional pre-test refresher sessions to give you the best chance of passing first time.

What is the CPC Module 3A reversing test?
The Module 3A test is the off-road part of the HGV driving test. It involves completing a reversing manoeuvre into a designated bay, and for Category C+E drivers, it also includes uncoupling and recoupling a trailer.
Do I need to pass Module 3A before I take Module 3B?
Yes. You must pass the Module 3A reversing test before you’re eligible to book and take your Module 3B on-road driving test.
How long does the Module 3A test take?
For Category C (Class 2), the reversing exercise takes around 10 minutes. For Category C+E (Class 1), it’s approximately 35 minutes including the trailer coupling and uncoupling.
What happens if I fail my reversing test?
If you fail the Module 3A test, you’ll need to rebook it before continuing to the on-road Module 3B test. We offer quick resits and extra training sessions to help you pass.
Is vehicle hire included in the Module 3A test booking?
It depends on the package. We offer both test-only options (bring your own vehicle) and full packages including DVSA test fee and use of our training vehicle.
Can I just book the Module 3A test without a full HGV course?
Yes, if you’re confident and have access to a suitable vehicle, you can book just the 3A test with or without vehicle hire.
